I Will Not Forget

I will not forget your benefits to me
I will not forget the mighty deliverance
How you walked me out of captivity
With all I ever need for life and godliness
How you walked me through the wilderness
And rained manna from the skies every day

I do not despise prophecy and prophesyings
I won’t let time wear them out in my heart
I lay hold of your word till it is performed
I will not forget the things you said to me
I will not hear your word and still live my own way
I heard you clearly, may I not fulfill purpose barely

I will not forget how those words thundered
It made my face radiant and worries insignificant
I will pick up those notes, shake off the dust
I will look into the perfect law of liberty
Until my soul is free from the pull of gravity

I will bury myself in the volume of the books
Until my dry old shell gives way to a brand new life
Until I spring forth with a brand new conviction
I will look into a reflection of my true identity
I will look in the mirror and make adjustments
Till I look exactly like your word describes

I cannot afford to live like there is no hope
I will live with an expectation of the promise
I will not forget that my sins have been forgiven
I will add to my faith knowledge and then virtue
I will cultivate the fruits of righteousness
And nurture the nature of Christ in me

I will lay hold of Your promise to me again
I will confess until I possess the promise
I’ll repeat it to myself as you said it to me
No brightness of day will make me distracted
No darkness of night will make me disconnected
I’ll stair the coal and keep the fire burning
