Two Conversations

Inside one mind.

The battle of voices.

Where am I?

It is dark, too dark.

I can’t see a thing.

Not even my hand
outstretched before me.

Why am I crawling?

I am on the ground.

How long more?

This road seems long and winding.

The floor is wet.

I listened carefully and hear
the dripping sound of water.

Where is OUT?

I am still crawling.

*PLOP*

The sound hits the wall and echoes.

A sudden flash of light comes on
with the sound and is blinding me.

I am hit with a sudden realization
that I am in a cave.

The way out of this cave is
where the light is shining!

Using all my might, I crawled
and I crawled, towards the light.

I’m reaching, I’m reaching!

Wait, did the floor stretch longer?

Did my eyes play a trick on me?

I rubbed my eyes and squinted.

Squint. Hard.
Harder, now.

No, the light is further away from me.

Still, I will crawl.

There are two conversations happening in our minds at any time of the day. Especially when it feels like the journey you are on never seems to get better and sometimes maybe even darker.

But among the two, the one you choose to believe triumphs in the end.

Choose wisely.
