Unplug from the Negativity

And do something that you love

One of the best ways you can improve yourself as a writer, and thus an artist, is just unplug from all of the bullsh*t and do what you love.

For an example: I’ve said several times I’m a huge fan of the band “Disturbed;” the lead singer had been away from social media for 8 years, and now is back on there. A lot of people ridiculed him for that, but you know what? Even I noticed he was happier! And the big reason? He had unplugged from all of the negativity, and just did what he loved to do: namely, spend time with his wife, young son, and work on music with “Disturbed.” And I cannot blame him for that — because now we have a 100%, living his life the way he wants to, front man to my favorite band.

And this goes for you, too. Just unplug from all of the bullsh*t! The majority of it is designed to keep you apprehensive, in fear, anxious and in control, anyway! So unplug, step away from it (sometimes the longer you’re away, the better!) and just do what you want to do. Don’t worry, no magical boat is going to take off without you. You decided, in your life, what you do, how you do it, and when you do it. There is no “no boat fits all” when it comes to reaching your goals at a certain time, age, etc. Bullsh*t!

Maybe you like knitting, or crocheting — or always wanted to learn. Perhaps pottery, ceramics, mosaics, painting, sculptures, illustration, singing, arts and crafts — it’s endless the possibilities. Or perhaps you love going to concerts — take a whole year off and go to all of the concerts you’ve been wanting to see before all of those bands you love no longer tour — THAT’S A THING. OR maybe you like cooking, and have always wanted to get better. Or bake.

Maybe you’ve been putting off that trip, that vacation, that adventure, that experience — whatever it is that you love to do, or would love to learn or start doing (again), unplug and do it. Not only is this going to enrich your life, but it’s almost as if you just gave yourself an artistic spiritual boost and this is going to go a long way in your art, and thus writing! Plus, now you have more things to talk about or write about!

I’m honestly planning on taking a whole year off and hitting as many — if not all — of the bands I love’s concerts. That way I can get them while they’re still doing their thing, but also give myself that spiritual boost. Plus, I’ll get to meet new people along the way, and get to do many more “Disturbed” meet and greets! Hahaha! Soon they’ll know me as the girl in red that always gives them a handwritten fan letter in calligraphy (with a wax seal, feather quill and ink well and all)— and you think I’m joking!

So please, do yourself, and thus your artistic and written work a favor, and unplug from all of the bullsh*t/negativity going on in the world, and do something — or many somethings — that you love!
